NAMI Symposium: Structural-Grade Lightweight Steel-Concrete MiC System for Buildings in HK - Present and Future

Abstract:
The HKSAR Government is looking for innovative ways to speed up the construction of housing and encourages the industry to adopt innovative materials and technologies, including MiC, to enhance efficiency and quality. Nano and Advanced Materials Institute (NAMI) has been endeavoring in enhancing the productivity and performance of MiC through continuous innovation on advanced materials. Under an intimate collaboration among the government, industry, academic and research sectors 「官產學研」, a first-of-its-kind structural-grade lightweight concrete and fire resisting sealing system for steel-concrete MiC system has been developed and approved for the public use in Hong Kong under an open licensing platform model.

In this seminar, materials scientists, structural engineers and industry practitioners will share their insight and experience in using NAMI’s innovative materials in the design, submission for approval, fabrication and construction of the innovative MiC system, turning new ideas into applications in Hong Kong.

BODW (Business of Design Week), Asia's premier annual event on design, innovation and brands returns with an exciting array of programmes, headlined by a 4-day summit that gathers design visionaries from around the world and presents timely, insightful conversations under the theme 'Design for Change'. 2022 also marks the 20th anniversary of BODW, a testimony to our remarkable achievements in showcasing the best design leaders and creative talents from more than 50 countries in the past two decades. Together with the Netherlands and Guangzhou Design Week, strategic partners of BODW 2022, we seek to bring the best design wisdom to our international audiences. BODW 2022 is an accredited event celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong SAR.

Business of Design Week 2022 Summit returns on 30 November to 3 December with an exciting array of programmes drawing on the theme ‘Design for Change’ to celebrate BODW's 20th anniversary. The event will be held in a tribrid format combining an in-person summit at M+ museum, simulcast programmes on ViuTVsix and online, and on-demand content on bodw+. Supported by our Strategic Partner the Netherlands, the BODW 2022 Summit will feature 90 visionaries from around the world in over 30 panels to bring to the fore the vision, leadership, trends, and creative energy shaping our future as design takes up the role as a force for good. Jointly organised by the HKSAR Government, Hong Kong Trade Development Council and Hong Kong Design Centre, BIP Asia Forum brings IP professionals and industry leaders from all over the world to discuss the latest developments in the IP world, and to explore business collaboration opportunities. Last year, the two-day Forum featured over 70 prominent speakers to share their insights with more than 14,500 viewers from over 45 countries and regions.

The 12th edition of BIP Asia Forum will be held on 1-2 December 2022 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in a brand new hybrid format (Day 1 in-person & online; Day 2 online). As one of the celebration events for the 25th Anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, the upcoming Forum will include a wide range of new initiatives including the debut of “IP Market”. Themed “Smart Manufacturing and Building”, IP Market will be a one-stop platform which will showcase the latest technology projects by universities, R&D centres and start-ups from Hong Kong and provide networking and partnership building opportunities.
